UK potentially has their lineup set, so McIntosh would likely come in as a walk-on if anything.  But it would be nice to add a little more depth that could contribute in a couple of years.

Kansas.  Welp, that’s that I guess.  Good luck, Andrew.  And I’m sorry you didn’t win the National Championship next season.

I believe that no one knows where Wiggins will go except him and his family. and close friends.  I don’t believe for a second that he has not known for awhile and this is coming down to the wire.  I don’t know where he will announce he’s going, but if you believe the chatter from the Kansas side, and the host family of a teammate of Wiggins, then it won’t be Kentucky.  But then again, Nick Wiggins said his brother would shock the world.  So if Andrew does end up at Kentucky, I will give him credit for a highly sophisticated ruse.

There won’t be a press conference, just the trickling of word where Andrew Wiggins will attend college for a season.  This eternity of speculation and every school “source” thinking he will play for their school is nearing a close.  Only the word of @GrantTraylor stands between conjecture and reality.  It will all be over at 12:15PM on Tuesday.  Finally.

The Southeastern Conference and ESPN have signed a 20-year agreement through 2034 to create and operate a multiplatform network, which will launch in August 2014, it was announced today by SEC Commissioner Mike Slive and ESPN President John Skipper. The new network and its accompanying digital platform will air SEC content 24/7 including more than 1,000 events in its first year.

The network will televise approximately 45 SEC football games, more than 100 men’s basketball games, 60 women’s basketball games, 75 baseball games, and events from across the SEC’s 21 sports annually. Programming will also include studio shows, original content such as SEC Storied, spring football games, signing day and pro days coverage. Hundreds of additional live events from various sports will be offered exclusively on the digital platform. The network and its digital extensions will connect with each SEC institution and create opportunities for each school to produce and develop content.

According to Jerry Tipton, Kentucky received an invite to the (warning: link goes to Jerry Tipton article) Maui Invitational which John Calipari promptly rejected.

Tournament Director Dave Odom, the former South Carolina and Wake Forest coach, has been trying to get Calipari back to Lahaina ever since Kentucky participated in 2010.

“The invitation was there,” Odom said last week, “and he turned it down.

This really shouldn’t come as a surprise, since Calipari is not a fan of such tournaments.  And I can’t really disagree with him.  It’s a very long trip (around 10 hours flight time from Lexington) and wears the players down.  It’s also played in a small venue and there’s just no money in it compared to playing in a dome or a home game.  His reason is solid but I have to disagree with his decision.  Mainly for the same reasons he hates the tournament to begin with.

For anyone lucky enough to attend the Maui Invitaitonal when Kentucky is playing, you’ll likely agree with me that it’s the chance of a lifetime.  First of all, you get to see Kentucky play several games over several days.  Second, it’s in a very intimate setting which puts you on top of the action.  And not to mention, it’s Hawaii.  The activities outside of the games such as the Road to Hana. the Haleakala Crater, and the picture perfect beaches are an experience on their own.  But combined with the Big Blue Mist that follows the team to the farthest corners of the earth, it’s truly a special experience.

Here’s to hoping Calipari comes to his senses and accepts the next invitation that comes Kentucky’s way.

Maybe they want someone to stay 2 plus years to help get the GPA up with the no-show classes?

They could be cancelled to reschedule. Or, maybe Wiggins already knows where he wants to go. I still don’t think anyone knows. He could not even announce and just enroll in classes somewhere.

Hopefully we will all find out soon. I don’t think the college basketball world could handle not knowing until the start of the fall semester.

To loosely quote the great Bob Euker, I guess they’re thinking…  I don’t know WHAT they’re thinking!
