With the influx of new talent next season, some players will get lost in the shuffle. Kentucky currently has 7 players committed (and they might not be finished yet) with likely only 6 scholarships open at the moment (post coming with my thoughts on that later). So, it boils down to someone is going to either have to give up/lose a scholarship or leave.
Kyle Wiltjer, while talented, seems to be one of the odd men out for next season. He can shoot the ball and has some post moves, but truth be told, he’s a little soft and slow footed. Opposing players routinely get the first step on him on their way to the basket and he can’t shake his defenders for an open look.
I’m not necessarily saying Wiltjer should leave. He has potential, but his work ethic is rumored to be lacking. He would have to dedicate himself to working on his first step, getting open for a shot, and his overall physique. For a tall, skinny guy, he’s a little… “pudgy.”
