What a great day…

scoreboard

First of all, Kentucky nearly runs North Carolina out of the gym before coming back down to earth and coming away with a 68-66 win.  Kentucky, with this win, has proven the doubters wrong and shows the rest of college basketball they are legit.

This was win 1,996 for Kentucky who, barring a catastrophic meltdown, will be the the first program to 2,000 wins.  Next up is a talented Connecticut team in Madison Square Garden.  Kentucky has proven they are for real so no doubt UConn will be bringing their “A” game.

Secondly, as the game reaches its conclusion, the Louisville Cardinals got destroyed at HOME by CHARLOTTE, 87-65  This Louisville team is really falling apart.  First they had 2 players get arrested back in October (their punishment was handled “internally”) and now they have several players out due to “injuries.”  Personally, I’m not buying the injury bit.  This is a troubled program that is having internal problems.

It’s going to be hard for the Cardinals to win without 3 of their more talented players so it’s no surprise they lost.  They don’t have Jerry Smith to fight off the competition.  Nor do they have the best guard in the entire country (who is so fast he misses layups) in Siva.

It’s hard to say how long how long their suspensions injuries will last.  But make no mistake about it, every player will be miraculously healed and 100% come January 2nd.

One more thing.  I know how much Louisville fans like to say every year that “this years team has as much talent as the 1996 Kentucky team.  Every year you say that, every year you’re wrong.  But I have to admit you’re getting closer.  Well, Kentucky got win 1996 on the same day Louisville played (and lost) at least.  So that’s something.
