About WCC

WildcatCorner.com celebrated its 7th year in November of 2009.  While other Kentucky blogs may be more popular, WildcatCorner was one of, if not the first, Kentucky fan blog starting in November of 2002.

This site was primarily created to share my views on University of Kentucky sports. Over time it has taken on many different shapes and hosts. Although I happy with the current site, I’m sure it won’t be the last time it changes.

Hosting History
Originally, this website was hosted on a shared account and was redirected using a dns service. I then hosted it on a make shift Linux server sitting in my bedroom over a DSL connection and, again, redirected the domain name using a dns service. After that, I was allowed to use hosting donated by a friend to get the word out about his hosting service, which I eventually began paying for. After a credit card was stolen, the hosting expired without my knowledge. After going on hiatus for a couple of months, I took the opportunity to purchase a larger hosting plan when I ran across a decent deal from GoDaddy.com.

Design History
I originally created a straight, generic, html type blog on which I would report my views on Kentucky basketball and football. Eventually, the person nice enough to lend space to me created a much more pleasant html type blog. I stuck with that for awhile and then moved to a content management system called Geeklog. Around the time I switched hosting, I decided to keep up with the change theme and moved to another content management system called Joomla. Joomla is very powerful and customizable, but I ran into hosting problems once again (partially my fault) so I decided to simplify things a little and moved to my current blog software, WordPress.
