According to Jeff Goodman, Gary Parrish is overrated. He also lets us know that Andrew Wiggins cancelled his in-home visits with Kansas, North Carolina and Florida State.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!?
They could be cancelled to reschedule. Or, maybe Wiggins already knows where he wants to go. I still don’t think anyone knows. He could not even announce and just enroll in classes somewhere.
Hopefully we will all find out soon. I don’t think the college basketball world could handle not knowing until the start of the fall semester.
This poll on ESPN shows everyone but Kentucky thought Nerlens Noel should come back.
To loosely quote the great Bob Euker, I guess they’re thinking… I don’t know WHAT they’re thinking!
UKAthletics reported this morning that Nerlens Noel will enter the NBA draft, forgoing his sophomore season. This isn’t too surprising, but is a shame he didn’t have a better college career.
“I have loved my time at Kentucky, but I feel that I’m ready to take the next step to the NBA,” Noel said. “I’ve learned so much here at UK and am thankful for Coach (John) Calipari, the staff and my teammates for all of their support. I especially appreciate the Big Blue Nation and all of the support, prayers and well-wishes I’ve received from them during my rehab and decision-making process. I’ll always be a Wildcat!”
Good luck, Nerlens.
Yesterday, Keith Jenkins tweeted that sources were telling him that Andrew Wiggins will commit to Florida State soon… ish. To which Wigins replid:
Lol if you ain’t in my family you know nothing about my recruitment , lol stop with the rumors
Today, that twitter account no longer exists.
However, this website points out that about a year ago, Keith Jenkins let us know what his sources were saying:
I suppose he was half right.
So some guy with ESPN in his twitter name says a source tells him Andrew Wiggins is going to commit to Florida State. Sometime.
I wanted to go on record with my thoughts about Wiggins. And this is how I’ve felt ever since Julius Randle committed. He has basically 2 options. #1 Come to UK or #2 go somewhere else.
#1. He can come to UK and go up against the best of the best in practice. He can fight (but let’s be realistic here, he’d start) for minutes and be on a team with the greatest recruiting class of all time and have a real shot at a national championship (as well as going undefeated but that’s not *that* likely).
#2. He can go elsewhere, namely FSU. He can be the main guy, get all the minutes, score all the points, and show up on Sportscenter from time to time. We’ll hear about him when he plays Duke and North Carolina, otherwise we’ll hear his name during the draft. I would say his time would compare to that of Shabazz Muhammad for UCLA.
Anyway, the choice is his. Kentucky doesn’t need Wiggins. They already have the #1 player at each spot, except for 1. And that player is the #3 ranked player in the class at that position. But, man, it would sure be nice if he came.
Anyway, here is Keith Jenkins with his guess.
The Madison Central star and Kentucky Mr. Basketball chose the Cats on Wednesday morning. He will only be adding to an already stellar class for next season.
Dominique Hawkins, a 6-foot-1 guard from Madison Central in Kentucky, has committed to the Wildcats.
Hawkins isn’t a typical Kentucky basketball recruit. In fact, he’ll likely never see much playing time at the point guard spot. The schools that he picked Kentucky over? Appalachian State, Western Kentucky and Morehead State. Coach Cal didn’t bring him in to compete with the Harrisons for minutes in the back court.
But Hawkins was Mr. Basketball in the state of Kentucky. And he can play the point guard spot, which will be needed seeing as Jarrod Polson is the only other point guard on the Wildcat roster.
Hawkins becomes the eighth member of Kentucky recruiting class, which also includes six all-americans.
It will be interesting to see how Hawkins develops over the years going up the likes of Andrew Harrison and the subsequent point guards.
And he will go to Arizona. Oh well, can’t win them all. Come on down Wiggins!
As noted yesterday, Kyle Wiltjer will return to the team next season. Also as speculated ue to his tweets. Willey Cauley-Stein will return as well. However, Archie Goodwin plans to enter his name in the NBA draft. Goodwin has not hired and agent so he has the chance to change his mind. But with the class that’s coming in, and the possibility of Andrew Wiggins joining the team, he may choose to remain in the draft.
According to his latest tweets, Kyle Wiltjer will not be transferring.
I like the attitude. I just really hope he works on his 1st step.
These guys + Wiggins (and maybe Gordon) should be 1 side of the McDonald’s All American game. #UKFuturesGame
